Billing & Insurance

At the moment, we are in the process of becoming a provider for various insurance plans, but during this transitional period, our services are offered on an out-of-pocket basis. However, our dedicated providers are happy to assist you in obtaining a super bill, which you can submit to your insurance company to maximize potential reimbursement for the services received.

FAQs

  • Feeding therapy assists children who face challenges in engaging with mealtimes and consuming a well-rounded diet that supports healthy growth. It comprehensively addresses various factors that can contribute to mealtime difficulties, including: Feeding skills, such as coughing, choking, gagging, excessively long or short mealtimes, difficulty chewing, and swallowing. Psychosocial aspects, such as refusal to eat, an inability to dine with the family, a need for distractions while eating. Sensory issues, like resistance to trying new foods or avoidance of certain food groups. Medical concerns, such as a lack of hunger signs or episodes of vomiting. Nutritional challenges, such as limited dietary preferences and inadequate growth.

  • Children with the following diagnosis would benefit from feeding therapy: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) feeding tube, cleft lip and/or palate, tongue and/or lip tie, breast or bottle feeding difficulties, swallowing phobias, mealtime difficulties and tantrums, limited intake of foods, sensitivities with food textures, limited dietary diversity, food aversions, and oral motor delays.

  • Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) play a crucial role in pre and post-operative therapy for frenectomy, particularly when it involves the lingual frenulum (the membrane connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth) or labial frenulum (the membrane connecting the upper or lower lips to the gums).

  • Myofunctional therapy is a specialized approach that addresses improper oral habits, tongue posture, and breathing patterns. It helps with issues like mouth breathing, tongue thrust, and weak oral muscles, improving feeding, speech, and airway health.

  • Feeding therapy can begin as early as infancy if there are concerns with latching, bottle-feeding, or weight gain. Toddlers and older children can also benefit if they show signs of feeding difficulties or oral motor delays.

  • We work with children of all ages! While we specialize in infant feeding challenges, we also support toddlers and older children with feeding, oral motor development, and myofunctional therapy.

  • If your child is struggling with eating, drinking, or oral function, an evaluation can help determine if therapy is needed. Signs to watch for include difficulty latching, poor weight gain, excessive drooling, picky eating, or trouble transitioning to solid foods.

  • We proudly serve families across South Florida and offer in-person and virtual consultations depending on the child's needs.

  • Yes! While some picky eating is typical, extreme food selectivity, gagging, or refusing entire food groups may indicate an underlying issue. Feeding therapy helps children explore new foods in a positive, pressure-free way while addressing sensory and oral motor challenges.

  • Each session is tailored to your child's needs. Therapy may include oral motor exercises, sensory play with food, mealtime strategies, or techniques to strengthen chewing and swallowing. Parent education is also a key part of each session to ensure progress at home.

  • Not always! While some children benefit from a tongue-tie release (frenectomy), others may improve with myofunctional therapy alone. A thorough assessment helps determine the best course of action. If a release is needed, therapy before and after the procedure ensures the best results.

  • Feeding therapy focuses on improving a child’s ability to eat and drink safely and comfortably, addressing oral motor skills, sensory issues, and swallowing. Speech therapy, on the other hand, targets communication skills, such as articulation, language development, and fluency. Some children may benefit from both therapies if they have overlapping concerns.

  • We are an out-of-network provider, but we can provide a superbill for reimbursement depending on your insurance plan. We recommend checking with your provider to see if feeding or myofunctional therapy services are covered.
